 The world economy is focusing more and more on knowledge and innovation instead of on capital and labour. Consequently, a country’s capacity to protect intellectual property and solve any dispute in that field  is of great  importance to its competitive position in world commerce.

The success of technological development depends on rapid acquisition and commercialization of intellectual property rights. 

Therefore, the Bureau for Intellectual Property plays an important role in the conduct of intellectual property policy in the Netherlands Antilles.

To the Bureau for Intellectual Property of the Netherlands Antilles the year 2007 was an important one in various senses.
