  • Regarding Copyright should I register my work for it to be protected?

No. BIP does not provide for registration of copyright. Copyright is not bound by registration procedures. A work is considered to be protected by copyright from the moment it comes into existence. This is in accordance with the Berne Convention. The Berne Convention is an international treaty that regulates the protection of literary and artistic works. Curaçao is a party to this treaty. This implies that literary and artistic works are protected independently from registration formalities.

It should be taken into account that various countries provide registration of works for the purpose of, for example, identifying and distinguishing titles of works. But we do not do so.
