Startups & Small and Medium Enterprises (S&SMEs) are said to be the drivers of many economies. A strong S&SME sector in an economy will positively contribute to its growth. Intellectual property (IP) provides a framework where human creativity and inventiveness can be legally protected. Nowadays, as intangible assets play a prominent role as the most valuable assets for many startups and small and medium-size enterprises, Intellectual Property Rights are the best means to protect them.
The Bureau for Intellectual Property of Curaçao wants to contribute to this process with information about IP rights as they apply in the territory of Curaçao. Our main objective is to encourage the effective use of IP systems by S&SMEs, to facilitate growth and sustainable success in business. We believe that strategic implementation of IP is crucial to the success of S&SMEs and will ultimately enhance the growth of the economy of Curaçao through innovation, creativity, business vitality and diversity.
